Well, just when you think everything is all set, here comes the snag. Apparently, our seller needs to have a va id number. Who knew? Certainly not us. You'd think that the lender would have anticipated this for us, or knew what to do about it, but right now we are in a bit of limbo.
After doing some research online, it looks like the seller has 3 forms that he has to sign and submit to the va regional office. They will then issue him a number (who knows how long that takes) and then the underwriting can be finished.
I called our realtor this morning and let him know what we needed, and he is going to speak with the seller's agent and see what needs to be done. I've found all the forms that need be to submitted to the va so that they can generate him a number. I'm hoping if I get our realtor on it already, maybe we can get the ball rolling a bit faster.
Hopefully this will all work out, and we'll get squared away in time to close. Holding my breath...
